Station 38 of York County

Our History

Ajax Fire Company originally opened its doors in 1919 with a group of 15 citizens of the Yorkana area. In 1920 the name was changed to Community Volunteer Fire Company #1 of Yorkana, PA. In 1948 we have documented that the fire company responded to a total of 5 calls for the year. Today the company responds to over 300 calls a year. Our current engine room was built in 1961. In 1965 We held our first Mother’s Day dinner and continue this tradition to this day. In 2019 we celebrated out 100th year of operation , and hosted the York County Firemen’s Convention. Our Chief on the 100th year was Rodney Whitekamp, and President was James Flinchbaugh.

Our current Fire Chief and President is Scott Frederick. Scott is working to guide our volunteers safely through 2021

We utilize our hall at 42 main street for fire prevention week, dinners, bingo, an annual Halloween party and an annual community breakfast with Santa. In June of 2020 we purchased a new station at 5410 Mt Pisgah Road, this building is utilized for meetings, as well as training. All apparatus is kept in this building. Our fire company serves Windsor Township, Lower Windsor Township and Yorkana Borough. In addition we are emergency mutual aid for other surrounding townships and communities wherever they may need our assistance.
